The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that a nighttime resurfacing project will be performed on I-84 eastbound and westbound in Willington, Ashford, and Union, beginning on April 26, 2021.
The project consists of surface patching, crack sealing, and placement of an Ultra-Thin Bonded Polymer Modified Asphalt to resurface I-84 eastbound and westbound. This project is scheduled to begin April 26, 2021, with an anticipated completion date of November 12, 2021.
The project limits for I-84 in the eastbound direction begin at mile marker 85.56 (I-84 overpass over Route 32 River Road) and extend easterly along I-84 to the Massachusetts’ state line. In the westbound direction the project limits begin at the Massachusetts’ state line and extends westerly to mile marker 86.44 (vicinity of Hancock Road).
Motorists can expect lane closures on I-84 eastbound and westbound from 6 PM to 6 AM, Monday through Friday, and from 6 PM to 10 AM, Saturday and Sunday.
Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to remain alert, drive cautiously, and to maintain a safe speed when driving in this vicinity.
Project No. 0160-0153 was awarded to Palmer Paving Corporation of Palmer, MA at a cost of $7,860,816.50.
