The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that a milling and resurfacing project will be performed on Route 44 from the Coventry town line to Route 195 (Storrs Road) in Mansfield.
The project consists of milling and resurfacing a 3.23-mile segment of Route 44 from the Coventry town line to Route 195 (Storrs Road) in Mansfield as well as the replacement of the bridge membrane on Bridge 01178.
The milling portion of the project is scheduled for Friday, May 21, 2021, to Friday, June 4, 2021. The bridge membrane replacement and resurfacing segment of this project is anticipated to occur from Thursday, June 17, 2021, to Thursday, July 1, 2021. No work will be performed on the Memorial Day Holiday.
This project is included in the Department of Transportation’s 2021 Vendor Resurfacing Program.
Motorists can expect lane closures on Route 44 from the Coventry town line to Route 195 (Storrs Road) in Mansfield. Traffic control personnel and signing patterns will be utilized to guide motorists through the work zone. The regular work schedule for this project is 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (Monday – Friday). Special work hours for Friday, May 28, 2021, are 4:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to remain alert, drive cautiously, and to maintain a safe speed when driving in this vicinity.
