Median Drainage Repair on Route 8 southbound in Torrington

The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that a roadway construction project will begin Phase 1 in Torrington along a section of Route 8 Southbound between Exits 45 and 46. Work will begin Thursday, November 11, 2021.

The project will include rehabilitation/replacement of a collapsed catch basin and 84” ACCMP. On the 10th of September 2021 the commissioner declared an emergency condition existed at the above noted location. To facilitate construction activities, Route 8 Southbound High-speed travel lane between Exits 45 and 46 will be closed from mile point 54.0 to mile point 53.6.

Project 0143-0195 was awarded to Guerrera Construction of Oxford, Connecticut on September 24, 2021 at a cost of $983,000.00 and is scheduled to be completed in January 2022.  The project is being administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction District 4, Thomaston.

LANE CLOSURE INFO

Various slowdowns are anticipated between 7:00 a.m., and 3:30 p.m., along Route 8 Southbound Monday through Friday.  However, the high-speed (left) lane will be closed between Exits 45 and 46. All work is “weather permitting”.
