Installations and Revisions of Traffic Control Signals in Various Connecticut Towns

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (Department) is developing plans to replace existing traffic control signal equipment with new equipment to meet current Department standards at 11 locations in Fairfield, Milford, Norwalk, Shelton, Stratford, Trumbull, Wallingford, and Wilton.

At applicable locations, pedestrian control features (countdown pedestrian indications, accessible pushbuttons, sidewalk ramps) will be upgraded in an effort to improve accessibility and pedestrian safety. The Department will coordinate with the each city or town during the design phase.

The following intersections are included for Project 0173-04510, Traffic Control Signals:

• Fairfield – Route 59 (Brooklawn Ave. and Stratfield Rd.) at Capitol Ave. and Collingwood Rd. – Intersection No. 050-238

• Milford – I-95 NB Ramps at Plains Rd. – Intersection No. 083-256

• Norwalk – Route 123 (Main St.) at Union Ave. – Intersection No. 102-220

• Shelton – SR 714 (Bridgeport Ave.) at Old Stratford Rd. and Commerce Dr. – Intersection No. 126-213

• Shelton – SR 714 (Bridgeport Ave.) at Beard Sawmill Rd. and Mill St. – Intersection No. 126-215

• Shelton – SR 714 (Bridgeport Ave.) at Long Hill Cross Rd. – Intersection No. 126-235

• Stratford – Route 110/Route 113 (N. Main St.) at Route 110 (E. Main St.) – Intersection No. 138-248

• Trumbull – Route 108 (Nichols Ave.) at SR 743 (Penny Ave.) and Route 8/25 NB On-Ramp – Intersection No. 144-229:

• Wallingford – Route 150 (South Broad St.) at RR Underpass – Intersection No. 148-224

• Wilton – Route 33 (Ridgefield Rd.) at Belden Hill Rd. and Lovers Ln. – Intersection No. 161-211

• Wilton – Route 106 (Wolf Pit Rd.) at Horseshoe Rd. and Range Rd. – Intersection No. 161-229

It is the Department’s policy to keep the public informed and involved when such projects are undertaken. It is important that the community share its concerns with us to assist in the project’s development. At this time, it is anticipated that an informational meeting or formal public hearing will not be necessary.

The design plans for this project are expected to be completed in January 2023 with a tentative advertising date for construction of March 2023.
