Continuation of Detour on Route 7 and 44 Railroad Crossing North Canaan

The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing the current detour for the Main Street railroad grade crossing closure in the Town of North Canaan will continue to November 23, 2021.

The project consists of Railroad-Highway Grade Crossing Improvements at Main Street (Route 7 and Route 44) in the Town of North Canaan.

DOT Project No. 0099-0114/0115 was awarded to NJR Construction, LLC at a cost of $2,158,970.00 on May 21, 2020 and is scheduled to be completed by the spring of 2022.  The work is being administered by District 4 Construction in Thomaston.

 

DETOUR INFO

 

The detour on North Elm Street to Railroad Street will be in effect for all Route 7 and Route 44 traffic going in both directions will continue until 5 pm Tuesday, November 23, 2021.

 

Detour signing and message boards will provide direction.  Local traffic will be permitted through and business access will be available.  Travelers should expect delays and traffic will be monitored by Connecticut State Police.
