Remedial action is required to address impacts from the remnants of Hurricane Ida on September 1, 2021 in the vicinity of the Route 9 Southbound, Exit 19 off-ramp to Route 372 in Cromwell. As a result of these impacts, an Emergency Declaration project was signed by DOT Commissioner Joseph Giulietti on September 7, 2021 in order to stabilize and repair an existing 84” ACCMP that was found to be structurally compromised following the storm event.  Initial efforts to stabilize the area commenced immediately on September 2, 2021 while the scope of the permanent repair was investigated. The finalized scope of this project includes the full replacement of the existing 260 LF of 84” ACCMP by jacking a new 84” RCP. New headwalls and compaction grouting will also be installed.  Replacement efforts are expected to commence mid-December 2021.

DOT Project No. 0033-0133 was awarded to Arborio Corporation of Cromwell, CT on September 17, 2021 and is scheduled to be completed by May 1, 2022. This project is administered by the Office of Construction – District 1 in Rocky Hill.
