The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing the start of field activities to relamp traffic signals in the towns of Brooklyn, Chaplin, Colchester, Eastford, Griswold, Groton, Hebron, Killingly, Ledyard, Mansfield, Marlborough, Montville, New London, North Stonington, Stonington, Norwich, Old Lyme, Old Saybrook, Plainfield, Portland, Putnam, Waterford, Westbrook, and Windham.
The project involves the replacement of LED lamps, the replacement of circular red LED lamps with red arrow LED lamps at applicable locations , the replacement of circular green indications with vertical green arrow indications at applicable locations, the replacement of non-retroreflective backplates with backplates that include yellow retroreflective borders, installation of new backplates with yellow retroreflective borders, replacement of associated span/mast arm mounted signing, and replacement of existing pedestrian signals with pedestrian countdown signals at applicable locations.
DOT Project No. 0172-0480 was awarded to Electrical Contractors, Inc. at a cost of $1,498,227.70 on March 06, 2020, and is scheduled to be completed by November 30, 2020.
Lane Closure Information:
Traffic will be impacted either between the hours of 9:00 am – 3:00 pm, or 6:00 pm – 6:00 am, Monday – Friday, where lanes may be restricted or closed. Traffic may be impacted on Saturday and Sunday between the hours of 6:00 pm and 10:00 am, where lanes may be restricted or closed.
