The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing the start work, on August 3, 2020, for the construction of a modern roundabout at Route 1 and Route 22 in Guilford, Branford and North Branford.
The project consists of construction of a modern roundabout to improve safety and alleviate peak hour traffic congestion.
DOT Project 0059-0164 was awarded to Empire Paving, Inc. on May 20, 2020, at a cost of $2,957,573.34, and is scheduled to be completed on October 30, 2021. -
The contractor will be allowed to work on Route 1 (East Main Street and Boston Post Road) and the new circulatory roadway during the following hours:
- Monday through Friday between 7:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.
- Saturday and Sunday between 6:00 p.m. and 10:00 a.m.
Route 22 (Notch Hill Road):
- Monday through Friday between 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. & between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
- Saturday and Sunday between 6:00 p.m. and 10:00 a.m.
Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to remain alert, to maintain a safe speed, and to utilize caution when driving in this vicinity.
