The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing the scheduled transition to Stage 2 construction activities on the ongoing Arrigoni Bridge rehabilitation project in Middletown and Portland, beginning the week of December 14, 2020.
The construction stage shift consists of placing temporary concrete barrier on Route 17 / Route 66 to facilitate work on the center lanes of the Arrigoni Bridge approach-spans. The placement of barrier will reduce the bridge to one travel lane in each direction, with periodic alternating traffic occurring in the overnight hours.
Stage 2 is anticipated to be completed on April 21, 2021, followed by Stage 3 activities.
The project was awarded to Mohawk Northeast, Inc. at a cost of $46,289,385.04, on January 13, 2020, and is scheduled to be completed February 25, 2022.

Motorists are urged to remain alert, drive cautiously, and to reduce speeds in the work zone.
