The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that work will commence for the replacement of Bridge 05587 which carries SR 528 over Gillettes Brook in Somers.
The project consists of replacing the existing metal pipe culvert with a three-sided rigid frame structure on pile supported footings. Concrete wingwalls will be installed to direct flow and retain roadway embankment. The roadway will be widened to accommodate two, 12-foot wide lanes and two 4-foot shoulders. Bituminous curbing and metal beam rail with end treatments will be installed along both sides of roadway. Roadway over the rigid frame will undergo full depth reconstruction with milling and overlay of the approaches.
DOT Project No. 0129-0115 was awarded to Spazzarini Construction Company, Inc. at a cost of $1,788,617.00 on October 31, 2019, and is scheduled to be completed November 10, 2020.
Route SR 528 (Turnpike Road) will be impacted between 9:00 am to 3:00 pm Monday through Friday. Alternating traffic with the use of flaggers will be used as needed.
