The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing the start of work for Project 0161-0141 in Wilton, involving improvements to Route 7 At Grumann Hill Road.
The project includes safety and operational improvements to Route 7 At Grumann Hill Road including the complete demolition and replacement of the existing traffic signal systems at the intersections of Route 7 with 59 Danbury Road (Intersection 161-205) and Grumann Hill Road (Intersection 161-206). It also includes the widening of Route 7 mainly on the southbound side of existing Route 7, removal of existing and installation of new drainage structures, as well as milling and resurfacing of approximately 1600-feet of Route 7.
DOT Project no. 0161-0141 was awarded to Waters Construction Co., Inc. at a cost of $2,913,721.20 on August 8, 2019 and is scheduled to be completed by April 13, 2021.
Lane Closure Information:
There will be weekday daytime lane closures on Route 7 north and southbound in Wilton to facilitate ongoing construction activities for the installation of roadway upgrades from Westy Storage Center at 59 Danbury Road stretching 1600 feet (1/3 mile) northbound along Route 7. This work is scheduled to begin on April 6, 2020 until the completion of the project scheduled on April 13, 2021.
Motorists can expect single lane closures on Route 7 northbound, weekdays between 7:00 AM and 3:30 PM, starting on April 6, 2020 and continuing for the next four weeks. Similar closures will then shift to the southbound side of Route 7 until the completion of the project.
Motorists should also be aware that nighttime lane closures may also be observed from 6:00 PM until 6:00 AM the following morning. Please be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other conditions. Motorists are advised to remain alert and maintain a safe speed when driving in the work zone.
