The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that a milling and resurfacing project will be performed on I-84 and I-384 eastbound and westbound in East Hartford and Manchester.
This project is scheduled to begin on or about May 4, 2020, with an anticipated completion date of October 30, 2020.
The project limits for I-84 in the eastbound direction begin after Bridge 05844A (mile marker 64.46) and extend easterly along I-84 to 0.04 miles east of Bridge 05580 (mile marker 67.56). In the westbound direction the project limits begin 0.09 miles east of the end of the westbound acceleration lane from Roberts Street (mile marker 64.42) and extend easterly along I-84 approximately 0.09 miles east of the westbound acceleration lane from I-291 (mile marker 67.67).
The project limits for I-384 in the eastbound direction begin at the eastbound junction with I-84 (mile marker 0.00) and extend easterly along I-384 to approximately 0.05 miles east of the end of the eastbound HOV lane (mile marker 1.41). In the westbound direction the project limits begin at the westbound junction with I-84 (mile marker 0.00) and extend easterly along I-384 to 0.11 miles west of the westbound exit ramp to I-291 eastbound (mile marker 1.21).
A 5/8” thick ultra-thin bonded PMA surface treatment is to be placed within the travel way portion of the existing pavement along I-84 and I-384. The shoulders will be treated with a polymer modified fog seal. In addition, crack sealing and surface patching will be performed to repair the existing roadway prior to placing the ultra-thin bonded PMA and fog seal.
The project No. 0171-0453 was awarded to Tilcon Connecticut Inc. of Newington, CT at a cost of $9,858,084.55.

Motorists can expect lane closures on I-84 and I-384 EB and WB from 6PM to 6AM Monday through Friday and from 6PM to 10AM Saturday and Sunday.
Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to remain alert and to maintain a safe speed when driving in the work zone.
