The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that guiderail upgrades will be performed on Route 72 northbound and southbound from .05 miles east of the I-84 Exit 35 access ramp to the merge of Route 9 northbound and southbound in New Britain.
The project consists of upgrading guiderail over a 2.20-mile segment of Route 72 northbound and southbound. This work is anticipated to begin on Monday, November 2, 2020, to Wednesday, December 23, 2020. No work will be performed the day before or after a major holiday.
This project is included in the Department of Transportation’s VIP Safety Improvements Project.
LANE CLOSURE INFO
Motorists can expect left lane closures on Route 72 northbound and southbound in New Britain from .05 miles east of the I-84 Exit 35 access ramp to the merge of Route 9 northbound and southbound.
Traffic control personnel, signing patterns and Connecticut State Police will be utilized to guide motorists through the work zone. The regular work schedule for upgrading the guiderail is 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. (Monday - Friday).
Motorists are advised to remain alert, drive cautiously, and to maintain a safe speed when driving in and near the work zone.
Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions.
