Traffic Incident Management System Installation along I-91 and I-691

The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing the start of construction activities for the installation of an incident management system along I-91 and I-691 in Southington, Cheshire, Meriden, Middlefield, Middletown, Cromwell, Berlin, Rocky Hill and Newington,  beginning April 1, 2019.

DOT Projects 0171-0413 and 0171-0414 were awarded to Ducci Electrical Contractors, Inc. at a cost of $14,384,591.00 on November 13, 2018 and is scheduled to be completed on October 23, 2020.

Project No. 0171-0413 consists of installing 15 new CCTV Cameras, 16 Traffic Flow Monitors (TFM), 13 miles of trunk line fiber optic cable in new conduit, and 4 miles of trunk line fiber optic cable in existing conduit on I-91 between Route 9 and Route 15/I-691 interchange.

Project No. 0171-0414 consists of installing 14 new CCTV Cameras, 14 Traffic Flow Monitors (TFM), 3 new Variable Message Signs (VMS) and 10 miles of trunk line fiber in new conduit along I-691 and Route 66. 

LANE CLOSURE INFO

On the following sections expect daytime temporary shoulder closures Monday through Saturday between 7 A.M. to 4 P.M., and expect nighttime temporary lane closures Monday through Saturday between 6 P.M. to 6 A.M:

  • I-91 Southbound between Exits 24 and 15
  • I-91 Northbound between Exits 15 and 23
  • I-84 Eastbound between Exits 26 and 30
  • I-84 Westbound between Exits 30 and 28
  • I-91 Northbound between Exits 19 and 22
  • I-691 Eastbound between I-84 Interchange and I-91 Interchange
  • I-691 Westbound between I-91 Interchange and I-84 Interchange
  • Route 66 Westbound between Route 147 and the I-91 Interchanges
  • Route 15 Southbound between Exits 65 and 68W
On Route 9 southbound between Exit 23 and the I-91 Interchanges, expect daytime temporary shoulder closures Monday through Saturday between 7 A.M. to 4 P.M., and expect nighttime temporary lane closures Monday through Saturday between 7 P.M. to 6 A.M.
