Scheduled Work Activity for Full Depth Road Reconstruction on Route 32 and Village Hill Road in Willington

The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing scheduled road work and a detour to facilitate full depth road reconstruction in proximity to and associated with the rehabilitation of Bridge 02259 carrying Route 32 over South Branch Roaring Brook in Willington.

The work on Route 32 will be performed in two consecutive weekends and will involve alternating one-way traffic. The first operation will start Friday night, October 25, at 6:00 PM and end Monday morning at 6:00 AM. The second operation will start the following weekend Friday night, November 1, at 6:00 PM and end Monday morning at 6:00 AM.

In addition, Village Hill Road will undergo full depth reconstruction with a detour starting Wednesday night, October 30, at 8:00 PM, ending Thursday morning at 6:00 AM. A second detour will start on Friday night, November 1, at 6:00 PM and end on Monday morning at 6:00 AM.

Motorists can expect lane closures utilizing alternating one way traffic on Route 32 between I-84 Exit 70 and Schofield Road in Willington. Traffic control personnel and signing patterns will be utilized to guide motorists through the work zone.

Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions.  Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed while driving in this vicinity.

DOT Project No. 0160-0147 was awarded to PJF Construction Corporation on May 6, 2019, at a cost of $1,915,304.50 and is scheduled to be completed by the end of November, 2019.  The project consists of bridge rehabilitation and full depth roadway construction on Route 32 over South Branch Roaring Brook (Bridge No.02259) and Village Hill Road, in Willington.
