Lake Avenue Bridge over the Merritt Parkway in Greenwich Scheduled to Reopen by November 20, 2019

The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that the Lake Avenue Bridge over the Merritt Parkway in Greenwich, will continue to be closed to traffic and is now scheduled to reopen by November 20, 2019.

The project consists of replacing all the structural steel members and the concrete bridge deck.  The decorative panels and ornamental railing will be preserved by cleaning and painting offsite and returned to their original locations on the new structure.  A Two-Tube rail system will replace the existing metal beam rail, increasing safety and improve viewing of the ornamental rail. The original 17-weeks detour of Lake Avenue is being extended to 21 weeks to perform all bridge and roadway work on Lake Ave. This will eliminate the need for use of alternating one way traffic from October 20, 2019 to November 30, 2019 for the roadway portion of Lake Avenue which was originally anticipated.

DOT Project No. 56-309 was awarded to Mohawk Northeast, Inc. of Plantsville, CT on January 18, 2019, at a cost of $4,593,699.65 and is scheduled for completion on November 30, 2019.
