Weeknight Off-Peak Lane Closures on I-95 Exit 9 Northbound and Southbound in Stamford

The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing weeknight lane closures of I-95 Northbound and Southbound in the vicinity of Exit 9 in Stamford, on or about September 28, 2018. The closures are necessary to facilitate construction activities for the rehabilitation of Bridge 00037, specifically to accommodate utility work to span temporary overhead electrical wires across all lanes of I-95. Lane closures and delays can be expected to occur between 10 PM and 6 AM.
The project consists of the construction of Bridge. 00037 in Stamford. The structure was built in 1958, is located at Exit 9 on I-95 just north of the intersection of Route 106 (Courtland Ave.) and just south of the intersection with Seaview Avenue.  Both East and West spans of the proposed superstructure will be constructed off line in the infield area of the I-95 northbound on-ramp. The existing spans will be removed by means of demolition in place. The proposed west and east spans will be placed using SPMT’s (Self Propelled Modular Trailer) during two weekend closures. One span will be removed and replaced per each weekend closure. The reconstruction of the bridge will also require temporary bypass work for the utilities that are currently occupying the bridge.
