The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that a surveying operation requiring barrel closures will be performed on Route 15 (Wilbur Cross Parkway) northbound and southbound on Heroes Tunnel in New Haven and Woodbridge. 

The northbound barrel will be closed from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. on Tuesday July 31, and on Tuesday, August 7, 2018. with traffic routed through the southbound barrel.  The southbound barrel will be closed from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. on Thursday,  August 2, and Thursday August 9, with traffic routed through the northbound barrel. Traffic control personnel and signing patterns will be utilized to guide motorists through the work zone.

The survey work is being completed in advance of project 167-108, to support the process of exploring various alternatives to rehabilitation or replace the tunnel as required under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and Connecticut Environmental Policy Act (CEPA). Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions.  Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this vicinity.
