Superstructure Replacement of Bridge 01291 on Route 97 in the Town of Sprague to Begin March 30, 2018
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that the superstructure replacement of Bridge 01291 on Route 97 in the Town of Sprague is to begin March 30, 2018.
The purpose of the project is to provide a permanent fix to the structurally deficient bridge which is rated in poor condition.  The project consists of replacing the existing superstructure (bridge deck and parapets) with a prestressed concrete deck unit superstructure with reconstructed sidewalks and parapets.  The existing span length and widths will be maintained.  There are also scheduled substructure repairs to patch the existing concrete abutments and wingwalls.  The project also includes full-depth pavement replacement immediately at the bridge approaches, metal beam rail and chain link fence installations.
The contract was awarded to LaRosa Construction Company, Inc. of Meriden, Connecticut at a cost of $669,000.00 on March 16, 2018 and is scheduled to be completed in September 2018.
