Safety Improvement Project on Route 49 in Stonington, North Stonington and Voluntown

      The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that a safety improvement project will be performed on Route 49 in Stonington, North Stonington, and Voluntown, beginning Monday, April 9, 2018.

      The project consists of installing guide rail on Route 49 in Stonington, North Stonington, and Voluntown.  This project is scheduled to begin on Monday, April 9, 2018, through Friday, May 4, 2018.

      This work is being performed by PGP Group, dba Atlas Companies.  The vendor shall supply the Call-Before-You-Dig number for this location.

LANE CLOSURE INFO:

      Motorists can expect lane closures to occur on Route 49 from Route 2 at Liberty Street in Stonington through a section of North Stonington to the begin overlap of Route 165 in Voluntown.  State traffic control personnel and signing patterns will be utilized to guide motorists through the work zone.  The regular work schedule for this project is from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (Monday – Friday).

      Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions.  Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this vicinity.
