Replacement of Roadway Illumination Systems on of Routes 2, 5/15, 9, 72, and I-384

The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing the commencement of work activities for the replacement of highway illumination systems on segments of Routes 2, 5/15, 9, 72, and I-384.
The project consists of the replacement of existing high pressure sodium type light fixtures with new light emitting diode (LED) light fixtures, installation of new light standards and foundations, concrete hand-holes, underground circuitry/conduits, and lighting control cabinets.

The project covers the following sites:
?   Routes 9, 72 and SR 571 in Berlin and New Britain
?   Rout 2 interchange with Route 83 in Glastonbury
?   Interstate 384 in Manchester
?   Route 5/15 connector between the Berlin Turnpike and I-91 in Wethersfield
DOT Project No. 0171-0432 was awarded to A.M. Rizzo Electrical Contractors, Inc. at a cost of $9,998,002.55 on October 10, 2018, and is scheduled to be completed on October 8, 2020.
LANE CLOSURE INFO
The contractor will be allowed to close the right shoulder Monday through Friday between 9:00 am – 3:00 pm and all day Saturday and Sunday (except on Route 9 SB.)
Ramps and Turning Roadways: Monday – Friday 9:00 am – 3:00 PM and 6:00 pm – 6:00 am; Saturday & Sunday 6:00 pm – 10:00 am.
Motorists are urged to obey the posted speed limit and to proceed with caution through these and all other construction work zones.
