Replacement of Bridge 02339, US Route 44 over Bark Meadow Brook in Pomfret
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that construction work will begin on May 5, 2018, on the replacement of Bridge 02339, Route 44 over Bark Meadow Brook in the Town of Pomfret.
Project 111-122 consists of the replacement of Bridge 02339 with a 10’ x 8’ box culvert.  The entire structure, including the wingwalls and cut off/return walls will be precast. The bridge replacement will begin with the relocation of existing Utilities and installation of cofferdam and water handling system.  The project will include general roadway improvements, including upgrades to the adjacent metal beam rail systems.
DOT Project No. 0111-0122 was awarded to Arborio Corporation at a cost of $733,000.00 on April 12, 2018, and is scheduled to be completed September 28, 2018.

LANE CLOSURE INFO
Route 44:
Temporary traffic impacts (consisting of daily shoulder and/or lane closures) may occur for project completion.
This project will also implement a Route 44 closure and 10-mile detour that will be in place for 10 days to facilitate the replacement of Bridge No. 02339. This detour will take place while school is not in session and will not be during the week of any major holiday.  The detour route will be provided with the necessary signing to guide vehicular traffic around the project site. A future press will be issued once the exact dates of the closure and detour are determined.
Motorists are urged to obey the posted speed limit and to proceed with caution through all other construction work zones.
