Rehabilitation of Bridge 02265, Route 34 Over Boys Halfway Brook in Monroe
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing the start of construction to rehabilitate Bridge 02265 on Route 34 Over Boys Halfway Brook in Monroe, on or about December 3, 2018.
The project consists of:
  • Replacing existing superstructure with a new precast reinforced concrete slab 
  •  The deck will be topped with membrane waterproofing and a bituminous concrete overlay 
  • The substructure will be patched and repaired as needed
  • The roadway width at the bridge will be increased to 34-feet curb-to-curb to meet highway design standards.
DOT Project No. 0084-0110 was awarded to Dayton Construction Company, Inc. at a cost of $575,941.00 on October 26, 2018 and is scheduled to be completed July 20, 2018. 
During the bridge replacement the contractor will be allowed to maintain an alternating one-way traffic operation controlled by ac temporary traffic signal. Normal traffic operations (one lane in each direction) must be restored by the end of the 2018-2019 school year for the Town of Monroe Public Schools, anticipated to be June 13, 2019.
