Nighttime Resurfacing Project on I-84 Westbound in Farmington

     

The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that a nighttime milling and resurfacing project will continue on I-84 westbound in Farmington through Wednesday, June 20, 2018. A detour is required.

The project consists of milling and resurfacing a 1.85 mile segment of I-84 westbound in Farmington.  This milling portion of this project is scheduled to begin on Sunday, May 6, 2018 to Sunday, May 20, 2018. The resurfacing segment of this project is anticipated to begin on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 to Wednesday, June 20, 2018. No work will be performed on the day before or after the Memorial Day Holiday weekend.

LANE CLOSURE INFO

Motorists can expect lane closures on I-84 westbound in Farmington from the westbound overpass of eastbound US 6 & westbound SR531 to the overpass of Woodruff Road.  Traffic control personnel and signing patterns will be utilized to guide motorists through the work zone. Temporary short term ramp closures can be expected. Detour signs for the ramp closures will be posted instructing motorists.  The regular work schedule for this project is 7:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. (Sunday - Thursday).

DETOUR INFORMATION

·         Route 9 north Exit 32 will be directed to Exit 31 to I-84 eastbound to Exit 40, then right onto New Britain Avenue and right onto Ridgewood Road.

·         I-84 eastbound Exit 39 will proceed on I-84 east Exit 40, then right on New Britain Avenue, right on Ridgewood Road, taking the on ramp to I-84 west then take Exit 39.

·         Route 4 (SR508) to I-84 west will be directed to I-84 eastbound Exit 40, right on New Britain Avenue and right on Ridgewood Road.

·         I-84 westbound Exit 38 will be directed to Exit 37, then left onto Fienemann Road to Route 6.

Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this vicinity.
