Nighttime Lane Closures to Resume on the Merritt Parkway Project in Westport and Fairfield on or about April 2, 2018
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that nighttime construction activity on the Merritt Parkway Project in Westport and Fairfield is scheduled to resume on or about April 2, 2018. As construction activity on the project ramps up for 2018 season, motorists traveling on the Merritt Parkway between the Congress Street overpass in Fairfield to the Newtown Turnpike overpass in Westport can expect nightly northbound and southbound lane closures to occur.
The contractor will begin restoration work on Parkway bridges, resume milling and paving operations in southbound lanes, and will begin shoulder reconstruction and drainage improvements in the right side shoulder areas currently behind temporary concrete barriers. Some limited daytime construction work may be performed that will not impact traffic operations on the Parkway.
The project consists of the rehabilitation of 5 miles (each direction) of Route 15 and 11 bridge structures (over and underpasses) in the towns of Fairfield and Westport.  Upgrades to pavement, guiderail, drainage and historic concrete are included.
Construction operations scheduled for 2018 that will require lane closures and detours of local roads at overpass and underpass bridges and intermittent closures at Merritt Parkway Exit 41 and 42 on and off-ramps will be announced separately with advance details, dates, and times of closures and detour routes.
DOT Project No. 0158-0211/0207 was awarded to Manafort Brothers, Inc. at a cost of $56,712,000.00 on January 20, 2017 and is scheduled to be completed August 20, 2019.
