Intersection Improvements on Route 39 at Beckerle Street and East Gate Road in Danbury
The Connecticut Department of Transportation’s Office of Engineering is developing plans to provide intersection improvements on Route 39 at Beckerle Street and East Gate Road in the City of Danbury.
The project involves providing various improvements to Route 39 at the Beckerle Street and East Gate Road intersections. Route 39 will be widened in order to accommodate an exclusive left-turn lane traveling southbound on Route 39 at both intersections. Tree clearing along the inside of the curve will be required to address sightline concerns along Route 39 in both directions. Revisions to turning radii and sidewalk ramp upgrades will also be included with the project.
The present schedule indicates that the design will be completed in September 2021, with construction anticipated to start in spring 2022, assuming acceptance of the project, availability of funding and receipt of any required right-of-way and environmental permits.  This project will be undertaken with eighty percent (80%) Federal funds and twenty percent (20%) State funds.
It is the Department's policy to keep the public informed and involved when such projects are undertaken.  It is important that the community share its concerns with the Department to assist in the project's development.  A public informational meeting will be conducted upon the completion of the preliminary design.  At this time, it is not anticipated that a formal public hearing will be necessary.
Anyone interested in receiving information on this project may do so by contacting Mr. Scott Bushee, Project Manager, at (860) 594-2079 or by e-mail at Scott.Bushee@ct.gov.  Please make reference to State Project No.0034-0351.
