Improvements at Route 6 at North Main Street and Agney Avenue in Plymouth
The Connecticut Department of Transportation’s (Department) Office of Engineering is developing plans to improve  operational efficiencies on Route 6 (Main Street) at North Main Street and Agney Avenue in Plymouth.
The project involves realignment of North Main Street to form a normalized four-way intersection with Main Street opposite Agney Avenue. In addition, widening on Route 6 will be required to accommodate left-turn lanes in both the eastbound and westbound direction at the new North Main Street-Agney Avenue intersection, and westbound at the South Main Street intersection. On-Street parking, sidewalks and crosswalks are also proposed along the project limits.
The present schedule indicates that the design will be completed in October 2021, with construction anticipated to start in spring 2022, assuming acceptance of the project, availability of funding and receipt of any required right-of-way and environmental permits. This project will be undertaken with eighty percent federal and twenty percent state funds.
It is the Department's policy to keep the public informed and involved when such projects are undertaken.  It is important that the community share its concerns with the Department to assist in the project's development. A public informational meeting will be conducted upon the completion of the preliminary design. At this time, it is not anticipated that a formal public hearing will be necessary.
Anyone interested in receiving information on this project may do so by contacting Mr. Matthew R. Vail, Principal Engineer, at (860) 594-3274 or by e-mail at Matthew.Vail@ct.gov. Please make reference to State Project No.0110-0136.
