Concrete Barrier Removal, Pavement Marking Installation, and Overhead Sign Installations on the I-95 Southbound Gold Star Bridge in Groton and New London as Project Nears Completion
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing the start of final work which will require daytime and nighttime temporary lane closures to remove concrete barriers, install permanent pavement markings, and install overhead signs on the newly installed sign supports as the I-95 southbound Gold Star project nears completion.  The pedestrian sidewalk will also be re-opened to public access on November 2, 2018.
Traffic patterns will be well-signed utilizing construction signs, traffic drums, several message boards, and other traffic safety devices.  Motorists are advised that there will be a heavy State Police presence to facilitate the work activity.  Motorists are advised to use caution when driving through the work zone. Additionally, minor work may continue along the pedestrian sidewalk but no additional closures are expected.
DOT Project No. 0094-0252 was awarded to Mohawk Northeast, Inc. of Plantsville, Connecticut, for a cost of $26 million on December 16, 2016, and is scheduled to be completed November 30, 2018.
