Closure of Bridge 00847, Potter School Road over I-84 in Willington scheduled for June 25, 2018, Weather Permitting
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing the closure of Bridge 00847, Potter School Road over I-84 in Willington, beginning on June 25, 2018 (weather permitting) to allow for bridge replacement activities.
The project includes a superstructure replacement providing two simple spans consisting of steel beams with a composite reinforced concrete deck.  The superstructure replacement will be completed in a single stage, during which Potter School Road over I-84 will be fully closed to coincide with school summer closings. 
DOT Project No. 0171-0431 was awarded to The Middlesex Corp., of Littleton Massachusetts on August 24, 2017 at a cost of $22,067,950.00.  The project includes three bridges in East Hartford along with this bridge in Willington and is scheduled to be completed in January, 2020. 
LANE CLOSURE INFO
The Potter School Road Bridge will be closed Monday, June 25, 2018 at 10:00 AM and will remain closed until August 21, 2018. Detour routes will be posted.
Motorists seeking to cross I-84 from the north will be directed to take Old County Road to Mihaliak Road, then turn left onto Ruby Road and left onto Turnpike Road, and finally left onto Balazs Road.
Motorists seeking to cross I-84 from the south will be directed to take Turnpike Road and turn right onto Ruby Road, then right onto Mihaliak Road and continue onto Old County Road.

Typical daytime and nighttime lane closures will be necessary to facilitate construction.
Expect daytime temporary shoulder and lane closures Monday Through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and on Saturdays.
Expect nighttime shoulder and lane closures Monday through Friday from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. and on Saturdays.
