New Haven-Hartford-Springfield (NHHS) Rail Program

Construction Update: Town of Wallingford (Toelles Road RR Crossing – Revised Schedule)

July 10-25, 2017

As construction activity continues at various railroad crossings in Wallingford throughout the month of July, please note that there has been an adjustment to the timeframe of construction at the existing Toelles Road grade crossing. Beginning on Friday, July 14, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. and continuing through Monday, July 17 at 5:00 p.m. this grade crossing will be closed to traffic to accommodate track construction and roadway work. Due to the amount of work needed at this crossing, weekend hours are necessary and it is anticipated that this will be the only crossing requiring weekend hours.

A temporary grade crossing, located approximately 100-feet north of the existing Toelles Road grade crossing, will be available for use by emergency vehicles only. Amtrak and traffic personnel will be on-site during the closure to assist these vehicles to cross the tracks. Signs alerting the public to the road closure and detours will be posted prior to the road closure.

There will be construction noise throughout this period and temporary lighting to support overnight work in the area.

Please note that this schedule is subject to change.

For construction related questions, please contact Rich Angelicola, Resident Engineer, AECOM at (860) 867-6460.
