Rehabilitation of Bridges 03311, 03312, 03313, 03320, & 03322 (I-84 / Route 72 Interchange) in Plainville and New Britain
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing the second season of construction activities associated with the rehabilitation Bridges 03311, 03312, 03313, 03320, & 03322, (I-84 / Route 72 Interchange) in the towns of Plainville and New Britain commencing on April 1, 2017.
The overall scope of rehabilitation for these bridges consists of patching of the deck, applying a new bituminous overlay, repairing the steel superstructure members, and patching the substructure as necessary. Superstructure rehabilitation consists of steel repairs by installing plates and cleaning and painting the beam ends and bearing devices. The expansion bearings on Bridge No. 03322 at the abutments will be replaced and the parapets on Bridge Nos. 03312, 03313, 03320 and 03322 will be modified.
The following bridges are included in the project:
- Bridge No. 03311, which carries I-84 WB over Rt.72 & 372
- Bridge No. 03312 which carries I-84 EB over Rt.72 & 372
- Bridge No. 03313 the I-84 WB Exit to Rt.72 EB
- Bridge No. 03320 the Rt.72 Exit onto I-84 EB
- Bridge 03322 the Slater Rd overpass for I-84 providing access to the I-84 WB Exit and Entrance Ramps.
DOT Project No. 0109-0072 was awarded to Manafort Brothers Incorporated of Plainville, CT at a cost of $15,671,173.00 on February 01, 2016 and is scheduled to be completed on October 28, 2017.

DETOUR INFO
Detours are anticipated:
Slater Road onto I-84 WB will be closed from 4/12/17 thru 10/28/17. Detour signs will be in place redirecting traffic to access I-84 WB via Finemann Road.
Ramp 3320 (RT-72 WB to I-84 EB) will be closed on 4/11/17 from 10 PM to 6 AM. Detour signs will be in place redirecting traffic to access I-84 EB via Crooked St.
