Project No. 161-141 – Safety and Operational Improvements on Route 7 (Danbury Road) at Grumman Hill Road in Wilton
The Connecticut Department of Transportation’s Highway Design Unit will be holding a public informational meeting regarding the safety and operational improvements on Route 7 (Danbury Road) at Grumman Hill Road in Wilton. The meeting will be held on Tuesday, December 12, 2017, at the Trackside Teen Center, 15 Station Road, Wilton, Connecticut.  A design presentation will start at 7:00 p.m. and a question and answer period immediately following.  The snow date for this meeting will be on Thursday, December 14, 2017.
The improvements on Route 7 (Danbury Road) at the intersection of Grumman Hill Road will include roadway widening to accommodate northbound and southbound left-turn lanes and a minimum of 4-foot shoulders. The widening will take place on the west side of Route 7 and sidewalks will be installed on the east side of Route 7. The traffic signal for the intersection of Route 7 and Grumman Hill Road will be replaced to better accommodate the proposed left-turn lanes.  Short, left-turn slots will also be installed on Route 7, south of the Grumman Hill Road intersection, at Hollyhock Lane and the commercial driveway opposite to Hollyhock Lane.
The present schedule indicates that construction is anticipated to begin in spring 2020.  The estimated construction cost for the state designed project is approximately $2.67 million.  Funding is anticipated to be undertaken with eighty percent (80%) Federal funds and twenty percent (20%) State funds.
The public informational meeting is being held to offer a full opportunity for public participation and to allow open discussion of any views and comments the community may have concerning the Safety and Operational Improvements on Route 7 at Grumman Hill Road.

The meeting facility is ADA accessible.  Deaf and hearing impaired persons wishing to attend this meeting and requiring an interpreter must make arrangements by contacting the Department’s Office of Communications at (860) 594-3062 (voice only) at least five working days prior to the meeting.  Language assistance is provided at no cost to the public, and efforts will be made to respond to request for assistance.
More detailed information is available at the Department’s Office of Engineering, 2800 Berlin Turnpike, Newington, Connecticut, Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., excluding holidays.  Anyone wishing to discuss the project may contact Mr. William W.
