New Haven-Hartford-Springfield (NHHS) Rail Program

Construction Update: Town of Wallingford – Nighttime Railroad Crossing Work

July 30-August 5, 2017

Beginning on Sunday, July 30th and concluding by Saturday, August 5th, there will be nighttime surface milling at various railroad crossings in Wallingford to prepare for final paving in August. This will require alternating one-way traffic and will occur daily during the hours of 8:30 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.

Surface milling will occur at the Toelles Road, Ward Street, Quinnipiac Street, Hall Avenue, Parker Street, North Plains Highway and Pent Highway grade crossings.

Traffic personnel will be in place throughout the duration of the work. Signs and variable message boards informing the public will be posted near the work area prior to the start of one-way alternating traffic.

Businesses and residents in the surrounding area should expect construction noise throughout this period and temporary lighting to support overnight work in the area.

For construction related questions, please contact Rich Angelicola, Resident Engineer, AECOM at (860) 867-6460.

This work is part of the overall upgrade of the New Haven-Hartford-Springfield passenger rail line – now branded as the CTrail Hartford Line – scheduled to begin expanded service in May 2018.

Future updates on the status and location of construction activities will be provided on the NHHS Rail Program website at www.nhhsrail.com, Facebook, Twitter and by email. To receive email updates, please register on the NHHS Rail Program website.
