Nightly Closure of I-84 Eastbound Off-Ramp, Exit 48, at Capitol Avenue and Asylum Street from October 10, 2017, to October 15, 2017
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing a nightly ramp closure and detours from October 10 through October 15, 2017, at the I-84 eastbound off-ramp at Capitol Avenue and Asylum Street (Exit 48) in Hartford.
The closure is necessary as part of the Rehabilitation of Bridge Numbers 03160 A-D, 03301, 03303, 01765 and 01766 on I-84 in Harford. The work is part of the $39 million bridge rehabilitation project being constructed by The Middlesex Corporation.
The I-84 eastbound off-ramp at Exit 48 will be closed nightly from 9:30 PM to 5:30 AM starting Tuesday, October 10, 2017, and extending to Sunday, October 15, 2017. Motorists wanting to exit I-84 eastbound at Exit 48 will be directed to use Exit 49 and follow the detour signs for either Asylum Street or Capitol Avenue. The Asylum Street detour will direct traffic to the right coming off the Exit 49 Ramp. Traffic will then turn right onto Church Street, then left onto Union Place to Asylum Street. The Capitol Avenue detour will direct traffic straight ahead onto Chapel Street. Traffic will then turn right onto Main Street to the intersection with Capitol Avenue.
