Weekend Closure of Route 68 over Route 8, S.R. 710,  Metro-North Railroad and the Naugatuck River in Naugatuck
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing the scheduled weekend closure of route 68 in Naugatuck to facilitate ongoing construction activities related to the replacement of Bridge 00596 which carries Route 68 over Route 8, S.R. 710, Metro-North Railroad and Naugatuck River in Naugatuck.  The closure will begin on Friday, July 15 at 8:00 PM and the roadway will reopen on Monday, July 18 at 5:00 AM. 
The project consists of the rehabilitation of the full length of Bridge 00596 including replacement of the existing concrete bridge beams with high-strength weathering steel, full replacement of the existing concrete deck, reconstruction of the bridge seat at both abutments, reconstruction of existing wing walls, and various repairs to the existing five piers.  Extensive utility relocation is also included within the project.

DOT Project No. 0087-0142 was awarded to Mohawk Northeast, Inc. at a cost of $12,839,808.25 on February 3, 2016 and is scheduled to be completed in November 2018.

Route 68: ROAD AND BRIDGE CLOSED FRIDAY JULY 15, 2016 AT 8:00 P.M. TO MONDAY JULY 18, 2016 AT 5:00 A.M.
DETOUR INFORMATION
Route 68 East: Follow Route 63 South to Route 8 North to Exit 28 to Route 68 East.  
Route 68 West: Follow Route 8 South to Exit 26 to Route 63 North to Route 68 West.
OTHER LANE CLOSURE INFORMATION
Any other time Route 68 will have lane closures, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday before 11:30 pm.
Route 8: Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, before 1 p.m.
S.R. 710 (North Main Street): Shoulder will be closed. 
All other Roadways: Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, before 10 a.m.
Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this vicinity.
