Scheduled Three-Night Closure of the I-95 Northbound Exit 8 Off-Ramp in Stamford
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing the scheduled nighttime closure of the I-95 Exit 8 northbound off-ramp in Stamford, weather permitting. The closures will begin the nights of Thursday, May 19, Friday, May 20, and Monday, May 23, 2016, and will occur from 9 PM to 6 AM.
The closures are necessary to facilitate construction activities associated with improvements to Interstate 95 Exit 8 along with Atlantic Street and South State Streets in Stamford.  This project will improve the lane configuration along South State Street and provide a more efficient traffic flow exiting I-95 as well as improve the drainage in the area.  This work will involve temporary off-ramp lane reductions for the completion of new Exit 8 Flyover Bridge and retaining walls along the I-95 corridor between Atlantic Street and Canal Street.
DOT Project No. 0135-0326 was awarded to Yonkers Contracting Co., Inc. of, CT on January 15, 2016 for $33,881,217.09 with an official start date of February 8, 2016 and is anticipated to be complete in June 2018.
DETOUR INFO
Detour signs will be in place to direct motorists to take I-95 Exit 7 onto South State Street to get back to Atlantic Street.
Variable message signs on Interstate 95 and South State Street will be utilized to advise motorists of traffic conditions in the area.  Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions.
