Route 114 Between Orange Center Road and Route 34 in Orange Will Be Closed the Nights of April 6 and April 7, 2016
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing a two-night closure of Route 114 between Orange Center Road and Route 34 for a traffic shift to the west side of Bridge No. 02637 just north of Route 34. This traffic shift will allow for the eastern half of the structure to be replaced over the next several months.
The project consists of full replacement of the bridge including the wingwalls and foundations. The existing structure is in poor condition and is obsolete. The existing lane width will be increased to 12-feet and shoulder width to 4-feet in both travel directions. The plan consists of two stages of construction: for stage 1 all traffic will be shifted to the west side of the existing bridge with temporary signalization and illumination. The eastern half of the structure will be demolished and a new structure built. For stage 2, the traffic will be shifted to the east side of the bridge onto the new structure and the west side structure will be demolished and a new structure built.
DOT Project No. 0106-0121 was awarded to Dayton Construction, Inc. of Watertown, CT on November 20, 2015 at a cost of $1,447,987.40 and is scheduled for completion in November 2017.
