Replacement of Route 44 Bridge (Bridge Number 00990) over Wappoquia Brook in Pomfret
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that construction work will begin on April 1, 2016 for the replacement of Bridge Number 00990, U.S. Route 44 over Wappoquia Brook in the Town of Pomfret.
The project consists of the replacement of the existing bridge over Wappoquia Brook along Route 44/169 in Pomfret. A new three-sided precast arch will be placed on top of new footings supported by micropiles. Additional drainage will be added on the north side of the bridge and approximately 400 feet of full depth reconstruction of the roadway will be performed adjacent to the bridge.
Route 44 will be detoured while the demolition and construction of the new bridge is performed. The detour will occur for an 8 week period between June 20, 2016 and August 30, 2016. Specific dates of the detour will be published in a future press release.
DOT Project No. 0111-0119 was awarded to E.T. & L. Corporation at a cost of $2,009,586.00 on November 19, 2015 and is scheduled to be completed October 27, 2016.
Traffic impacts may occur periodically Monday through Friday, between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
