The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that construction will begin on May 2, 2016, for the  replacement of Bridge No. 06815, Route 172 over an unnamed brook in Southbury.

The existing corrugated metal pipe culvert will be replaced with a new precast concrete box culvert. This project is located on Route 172 in Southbury just south of Hollow Swamp Road. Construction activities are scheduled to occur between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday, from May 2, 2016, to September 30, 2016.  DOT Project No. 0130-0179 was awarded to Dayton Construction Company, Inc. at a cost of $727,940.15 on March 3, 2016.

LANE CLOSURE INFO
Motorists can expect periodic lane closures on Route 172. There will be a detour of Route 172 that will be implemented at a future date and time to be announced.

Signing patterns, flaggers, and/or local law enforcement will be utilized to guide motorists through the work zone.

Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions.  Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this vicinity.
