Replacement of Bridge 02917, Curtis Street over Route 72 in New Britain
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that Stage 2 for Curtis Street Bridge over Route 72 has begun. Two-way traffic will be provided for this stage.
The project consists of replacement of the superstructure with continuous weathering steel beams. New steel plate girders will allow for an increased vertical clearance with the same beam spacing.  The substructure will be modified to accept the new superstructure and to accommodate AASHTO seismic requirements.  Asphaltic Plug Expansion joint system will be used to accommodate expansion and contraction of the structure.
DOT Project No. 0088-0186 was awarded to Arborio Corporation at a cost of $4,763,231.80 on February 3, 2016 and is scheduled to be completed in December 2016
