Replacement of Bridge 02719 on Route 147 over Lyman Meadow Brook in Middlefield
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that the replacement of Bridge 02719 on Route 147 over Lyman Meadow Brook in Middlefield is beginning on April 1, 2016.
The project consists of the replacement of Bridge 02719, which carries two lanes of Route 147 traffic over Lyman Meadow Brook. The existing bridge structure will be replaced with a 12-foot wide by 6-foot high precast concrete box culvert with 2-feet of natural stream bed material placed on the bottom of the culvert. The proposed curb to curb width will be 32 feet which will consist of a 12-foot travel lane and a 4-foot shoulder in each direction.
DOT Project No. 0081-0088 was awarded to Schultz Corporation at a cost of $892,788.54 on January 8, 2016 and is scheduled to be completed August 18, 2016.
LANE CLOSURE INFO
The contractor will be working Monday through Friday between 9am and 3pm, Saturday and Sunday between 6pm to 10am.
DETOUR INFO
The contractor will be allowed to close Route 147 for an eighteen (18) day period (anticipated in July 2016) for the replacement of the bridge and reconstruction of the roadway.   The detour will not take place while school is in session.  Motorist traveling on Route 147 will be detoured through Route 17, Route 68 and Route 157.
