                                    Installations and Revisions of Traffic Control Signals

                                                 In various Eastern Connecticut towns

   The Department of Transportation (Department) is developing plans to install new traffic control signal equipment and/or upgrade the pedestrian control features (countdown pedestrian indications, accessible pedestrian signals, sidewalk ramps) to meet current Department standards at 16 locations in Ashford, Clinton, Colchester, Durham, East Haddam, Groton, Mansfield, Middletown, New London, Norwich, Old Saybrook, Putnam and Windham. The following intersections are included:

Project 0172-0443:

·         Colchester – Route 16 at Route 85 and Cragin Court- North Junction (Intersection No. 028-202)

·         Colchester – Route 85 at S.R. 616 (Norwich Ave.) (Intersection No. 028-203)

·         Colchester – Route 16 at Route 85 (Linwood Ave.)-South Junction (Intersection No. 028-212)

·         Groton – U.S. Route 1 at Route 117 (Intersection No. 058-214)

·         Norwich – Route 82 at Route 32/82 and Church Street (Intersection No. 103-218)

·         Putnam – U.S. Route 44 and Route 12 at Route 171 and Barber Street (Intersection No. 115-209)

·         Windham – U.S. Route 6 at Northridge Drive (Intersection No. 163-236)

Project 0172-0444:

·         Ashford – U.S. Route 44 at Route 74 (Intersection No. 003-201)

·         Clinton – U.S. Route 1 at Mallard Lane and Meadow Road (Intersection No. 027-215)

·         Durham – Route 17 at Route 79 (Madison Road) (Intersection No. 037-201)

·         East Haddam – Route 151 at John Williams Road (Intersection No. 040-202)

·         Mansfield – Route 195 at Cedar Swamp Road (Intersection No. 077-232)

·         Middletown – Route 217 at West Lake Drive and East Lake Drive (Intersection No. 082-240)

·         New London – S.R. 641 (Huntington Street) at Federal Street (Intersection No. 094-236)

·         Old Saybrook – Route 154 at Reservoir Road and Private driveway (Intersection No. 105-222)

·         Windham – Route 14 at Route 203 (North Windham Road) (Intersection No. 163-238)

   It is the Department’s policy to keep the public informed and involved when such projects are undertaken.  It is important that the community share its concerns with us to assist in the project’s development.  At this time, it is anticipated that an informational meeting or formal public hearing will not be necessary.

   The design plans for these projects are expected to be completed in February 2018 with a tentative advertising date for construction of May 2018.
