Bridge Repairs on Route 9 Southbound at Christian Lane Exit 23 in Berlin
- Periodic Nighttime Detours of Route 9 Southbound Required -
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing the start of repairs to Bridge Number 01096  - Route 9 Southbound under the Christian Lane overpass in Berlin - beginning the week of March 14, 2016. Nighttime detours of Route 9 Southbound will commence on or around March 21, 2016.
The project involves repairs to the structural steel members of the bridge, which recently sustained damage resulting from of an oversized vehicle impacting the structure.
DOT Project No. 0200-0002 was issued on an Emergency Declaration basis to Hartland Builders and Restoration Company of East Granby, CT at an estimated cost of $1,000,000.00 and is scheduled to be completed by May 15, 2016.
LANE CLOSURE INFO
Traffic on Route 9 Southbound in Berlin will be impacted periodically during the bridge repair work. Motorists can expect delays on Route 9 Monday through Friday from 9:00 pm to 6:00 am and intermittently on weekends. Periodic detours may be implemented nightly from 11:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. Detour signs will be posted.

From Route 9 SB take Exit 23 to end of ramp, take right onto Christian Lane, take left onto Massirio Drive, take left onto Farmington Avenue, go straight onto Mill Street then take ramp back onto Route 9 SB.
