Closing of Route 113 for Realignment and Construction of Runway Safety Area
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that Route 113 (Main Street) in Stratford will be closed to vehicular traffic between Sniffens Lane and Dorne Drive beginning Monday July 27, 2015 and will be re-opened on or about September 1, 2015, weather permitting.
Construction of the new Route 113 alignment is nearing completion. It is necessary to close the existing Route 113 to complete the roadway tie-in at the north and south end of the project.  All efforts will be made to keep bicycle and pedestrian access available throughout the closure, however, there will be short durations that access will be closed for safety reasons.
DOT Project No. 15-336 was awarded to Manafort Brothers Inc. of Plainville, CT on June 20, 2014 for $17,694,892.21 with an official start date of July 05, 2014 and an anticipated completion date of April 30, 2016.
LANE CLOSURE AND DETOUR INFO:

A complete closure of Route 113 with a detour plan will be in place. The Southbound Main Street detour will start at Access Road, continuing through Lordship Boulevard, Bluff Avenue, Prospect Drive and Stratford Road ending at Dorne drive. Local traffic will be allowed between Access Road and Sniffens Lane. Traffic control including signing and variable message signs will be utilized to guide motorists through the detour.

The regular work schedule for this project is from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (Monday thru Friday). Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions.  Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this vicinity.  Pedestrians and bicyclists are advised to use caution while going through the work zone areas.
