Reconstruction of Interchanges 5 and 6 on Interstate 84 in the Town of Danbury to Begin
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing the start of work for the reconstruction of Interchanges 5 and 6 of Interstate 84.
The project consists of the widening of the Exit 5 off-ramps (eastbound and westbound) and the Exit 6 on-ramp and off-ramp.  Route 37 (North Street and Padanaram Road) will be widened in the area of Exit 6 and traffic signals will be upgraded and/or added at intersections from Balmforth Avenue to the North Street Shopping Center.  Also, a new storm drainage system will be installed on Second Avenue.
DOT Project No. 0034-0313 was awarded to C.J. Fucci Construction, Inc. at a cost of $14,984,185.97 on 1/29/15 and is scheduled to be completed 8/31/17.
LANE CLOSURE INFO
Beginning 4/6/15, expect delays Monday through Friday as follows:
- Exit 5 Eastbound Off-Ramp – 8 PM to 6 AM
- Exit 6 Westbound Off-Ramp – 9 AM to 3 PM and 7 PM to 6 AM
- Exit 5 Westbound Off-Ramp and Exit 6 Eastbound On-Ramp - 9 AM to 3 PM and 6 PM to 6 AM
- Padanaram Road (Route 37) – 9 PM to 6 AM
All other roadways – 9 AM to 2 PM and 8 PM to 6 AM
On Saturdays and Sundays, work will be limited to 6 PM to 10 AM on all project roadways.
From April to November 2015 and 2016, existing travel lanes on Interstate 84 Eastbound, in the vicinity of Interchanges 5 and 6, will be shifted and reduced to 11-foot widths, to accommodate the widening of bridges.
Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this vicinity.
