Project No. 0050-0219 , Pavement Preservation on Interstate 95, Fairfield and Bridgeport
The Connecticut Department of Transportation's (Department) Office of Engineering is implementing a pavement preservation project for the 2016 construction season.  The purpose of this program is to enhance pavement performance by using cost-effective treatments to extend the service life of the existing pavements.  A section of I-95 in Fairfield and Bridgeport has been identified as a candidate for this program.
The Department is developing plans to mill and fill a section of I-95 between the New England Avenue overpass and the Beardsley Avenue overpass for a total distance of 4.2 miles.  This project will also include milling and filling of on-ramps and off-ramps.  Also included will be minor bridge repairs to Bridge No. 00105A over Metro North and a city street in Bridgeport.  Detour routes will be provided should ramps need to be closed for construction activities.
The present schedule indicates that the design will be completed in December 2015, with construction anticipated to start in summer 2016. This project will be undertaken with eighty percent (80%) federal funds and twenty percent (20%) state funds.
It is the Department's policy to keep the public informed and involved when such projects are undertaken.  It is important that the community share its concerns with us to assist in the project's development.  It is not anticipated that an informational meeting or a formal public hearing will be held for this project due to the limited nature of the proposed work.
Anyone interested in receiving information on this project may do so by contacting Mr. William W. Britnell, Principal Engineer of Highway Design, at (860) 594-3274, or by e-mail at William.Britnell@ct.gov. Please make reference to State Project Number 0050-0219.
