Installation and Replacement of Traffic Control Signals in Various Central Connecticut Towns
The Department of Transportation (Department) is developing plans to install new traffic control signal equipment at 14 locations in the cities/towns of Cheshire, East Hartford, Enfield, Granby, Manchester, New Britain, Rocky Hill, South Windsor, West Hartford and Wethersfield. The following intersections are included:
Project No. 171-376:
1. Granby – Route 10 at Floydville Road (Intersection No. 055-213) - In conjunction with the traffic signal installation, pedestrian equipment and amenities will be installed within the limits of the Farmington Canal multi-use trail.
2. Manchester - Routes 6/44 at Ludlow Road and Private Drive (Intersection No. 076-231)
Project No. 171-377:
1. Cheshire – Route 10 at Cheshire High School (Intersection No. 025-220)
2. East Hartford – Route 5 & S.R. 517 (Main Street) at Route 5 & Route 15 Northbound Ramps, Willys Street and Brown Street (Intersection No. 042-229)
3. East Hartford – Route 5 at S.R. 502 (Silver Lane and East River Drive) (Intersection No. 042-237)
4. East Hartford – Roberts Street at Simmons Road and Hillside Street (Intersection No. 042-256)
5. Enfield – Route 190 at Palomba Drive and Middle Road (Intersection No. 048-228)
6. New Britain – Route 71 at Barbour Road (Intersection No. 088-210)
7. Rocky Hill – Route 99 at School Street (Intersection No. 118-205)
8. South Windsor – Route 194 at Route 74 (Intersection No. 132-232)
9. Wethersfield – Route 99 at Mill Street (Intersection No. 159-206)
10. Wethersfield – Route 175 at Willow Street (Intersection No. 159-207)
Project No. 171-378:
1. Enfield – Route 191 at Abbe Road and Kreyssig Road (Intersection No. 48-249)
2. West Hartford – Route 71 at S.R. 535 (Ridgewood Road) and Sears Drive (Intersection No. 155-215)
It is the Department’s policy to keep persons informed and involved when such projects are undertaken.  It is important that the community share its concerns with us to assist in the project’s development.  At this time, it is anticipated that an informational meeting or formal public hearing will not be necessary.
The design plans for the project are expected to be completed in June 2016 and the project is tentatively advertised for construction in September 2016.
