- I-84 WATERBURY CONSTRUCTION UPDATE -
Daytime Blasting Operations Scheduled To Begin Week of May 5, 2015
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that daytime blasting operations are scheduled to begin on the I-84 Waterbury Reconstruction Project on Tuesday, May 5, 2015.  Traffic stoppages will be occurring between 9:30 AM and 11:30 AM on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays to remove rock in the area of Exit 23 Eastbound Off-Ramp just west of Hamilton Avenue.

The controlled removal of rock is scheduled to occur over several months, likely extending into 2016.  The work is part of the widening of I-84 to add a third lane in each direction and for the relocation of the western end of Reidville Drive adjacent to Harpers Ferry Road.

LANE CLOSURE INFO- Slow moving roadblocks will be used to facilitate the halting of traffic and motorists can expect significant delays in the area.

During blasting operations, traffic on I-84 in both directions as well as traffic on adjacent ramps and roadways will be halted for 5 to 10 minute intervals between the hours of 9:30 AM and 11:30 AM.

Variable message signs will be used to provide advance warning of event and to provide information on traffic conditions in the area.
