Work Extended: Route 58 in Bethel to Remain Closed For Replacement of Bridge over Putnam Brook through Wednesday, September 24 at 6 a.m.

    

    The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that Route 58 in Bethel between Starr Lane and Hoyts Hill Road will remain closed through Wednesday, September 24, at 6 a.m. for the completion of a bridge replacement over Putnam Brook near Sara’s Way.

      The project consists of removal of Bridge No. 02402 that carries Route 58, Putnam Park Road, over Putnam Brook in Bethel.  The work includes the removal of the existing stone masonry culvert, installation of a precast concrete box culvert and wing walls, along with new drainage and pavement.

      DOT Project No. 0009-0094 was awarded to Waters Construction Company from Bridgeport, CT at a cost of $ 772,766.00 on April 2, 2013 and is scheduled to be completed in November 2014.  The project is being administered by the Department of Transportation Office of Construction, District 4 in Thomaston.

      Detour Information

      Motorists will be detoured from Putnam Park Road (Route 58) at Milwaukee Avenue (Route 302) onto Glassy Plain Road/Redding Road (Route 53) to Hill Road/Lonetown Road (Route 107) and back onto Putnam Park Road (Route 58).  Detour signs will direct motorists around the closure.
