Traffic Detour to Begin for Replacement of Bridge No. 02781, Route 184 over Shunock River in North Stonington
The Department of Transportation is announcing that traffic on Route 184 will be detoured for the Replacement of Bridge No. 02781, Route 184 over Shunock River in the town of North Stonington, beginning on May 2, 2014.
The project consists of the complete replacement of the existing bridge structure as well as paving the approaches and replacement of guiderail systems.
The new bridge will be constructed utilizing staged construction to maintain the river’s flow. Route 184 will be closed to facilitate the construction of the new bridge. 
DOT Project No. 0101-0113 was awarded to Arborio Corporation of Cromwell, CT at a cost of $1.5 million and is scheduled for completion in November 2014.
LANE CLOSURE INFO

Traffic will be diverted around the project site along a signed detour route utilizing Routes 2 (Norwich Westerly Road), 184 (Providence-New London Turnpike), 49 (Pendleton Hill Road), and Route 617. The detour will remain in place for the duration of the project (approx. 7 mos.).

Motorists are urged to obey the posted speed limit and to proceed with caution through this and all other construction work zones.
